Manrae’s seven inch Pacata Hibernia is one of my dearest records. it holds a special place in my collection. it is so well done, it’s almost over the top. the cover artwork, the liner notes and obviously the songs… who can ever forget «this is a lullaby to yourself!», «smash the hour glass!» or «this is a thousand years!»? such iconic lyrics, and such heavy music. the crushing guitars are followed by perfect drumming and soft and melodic bass lines. and on top of it all is this Leicester accented shouting and occational screaming. this is in no way screamo though. this is that awesome obscure ’90s emo, like Parades End. if you have not stumbled across this masterpiece before – then get stumbling! because this is a must have. nothing more nor less. get it.
