those of you who have heard A La Dèrive remembers Belle Epoque and their unique sound fondly. the guitars are twinklling softly, like the ’90s mid-west emo bands, but only for so long. because Belle Epoque constantly catches you off-guard with bursts of loud, aggressive and passionate bursts. relying more on the element of surprise than pleasing crescendos, Belle Epoque are a band that is full of twists and turns, all of which are equally pleasing. going from a Symptom of Isaac resembling drive with upbeat tom-driven drums, clean guitars and spoken/rambling vocals – to semi-distorted Mineral-guitars at double speed and screaming – to this – to that, they constantly change the rules as they see fit. this is a fortunate thing, because Belle Epoque’s music is highly dynamic and extremely animate thanks to this. I highly recommend the living and breathing force Belle Epoque to absolutely everybody even remotely into emo. get this.

Sunday, August 1st, 2010a lot of people are confused as to what happened between the seminal screamo band Seeing Means More, and the pop skram/mosh pop/surfcore revolutionaries Fight Fair. this compilation might offer some explanation… or just further add to the confusion. either way is fine with me. Sailing Means More are the various Seeing Means More side-projects. this is the holy grail of OOP SMM. they cover Britpop, ’90s obscuremo and straight edge hardcore among other things, all with an aura of authenticity and passion. they take a stand against those mother fucking sellouts who’ve fled the scene, declare ride bikes forever and remind you that straight edge is for LIFE. now these guys are the biggest promoters of scene love & unity, skram life and ride bikes that skram has ever seen – but some people need to be reminded, straight edge is no joke. that shit is for fucking life. and only useless weasels would ever turn their back on the scene. they need to be called out, so I’m really glad Sailing Means More takes that stand. but don’t get me wrong, this isn’t a negative record. not at all. but this is the ride bikes manifesto, and you need to set some ground rules. and you need those ground rules to be accompanied by epic tunes. thankfully, Sailing Means More excels at that point. diversity and quality go hand in hand on the ride bikes manifesto, and I urge you all to check it out as soon as possible. this shit speaks the truth. it’s 2k10 and the RIDE BIKES virus is back, for life, until the day I die – for fucking ever! sailing means more fun for sailors, so grab this download young sailor.
