it’s been well over half a year since Kari sent me Like Spinning’s lovely EP. but as you all know, I’ve been busy. really busy. but better late than never. here is Like Spinning’s EP. and it’s mellow and warm and cosy and melancholic and dark and a lot of things actually. where a lot of cuddly rock gets one dimensional, this EP is refreshingly deep. it sinks further and further in, under your skin, and raises it. Like Spinning make intelligent and heartfelt music.

that’s it… bye! buy it at http://www.dorkrockcorkrod.com/ because it rules. if I recall correctly, Mitch Clem of the at times hilarious Web comic Nothing Nice to Say – which I’m pleased to say was actually recently picked up again – designed the cover. check out nn2s as well, http://mitchclem.com/nothingnice/ because it rules.
let’s continue down memory lane with The Ergs! this one isn’t as rare as the previous posts though. it’s actually still for sale on http://www.dorkrockcorkrod.com/ – so run pick it up! it’s The Ergs! so it sounds like The Ergs! you know who The Ergs! are by now, right? they are that great punk rock band that are messing up my punctuation. check them out. [insert guitar solo here.]
more The Ergs! rarities for you folks. this is their second release. this is a more traditional release in that it’s not an attempt to convince some alien species that we are equipped to rock and thus deserve the chance to live. this release has the punk-rock-meets-whatever-lulz-we’ll-do-what-we-want style that The Ergs! became famous for years later. (some of these songs were later rerecorded as well.) upbeat and über catchy punk rock with lots of treble. in my opinion, this release deserves regular rotation along with the rest of their catalogue. f’n is f’n great. check it.
I’m digging up some rare The Ergs! songs for you. I’m starting with their very first release. a ridiculous concept album in which aliens are threatening to annihilate the earth on account of too lame rock’n'roll, and The Ergs! have to save the planet by making the most outrageous and yes, outrighteous, rock’n'roll the world has ever heard. whether they succeed or not is up to you to find out. by the way, this upload features the entire album in one track as well as the tracks by themselves.
Limits & Lines. wow. just wow. this San Diego band came out of nowhere, with an EP with which they establish themselves as utterly and completely amazing. it sounds a bit like Vulture Culture and It’s Just Vanity, but leaning more on the alternative and pop side of things. just download this right away, because it’s perfect.
